so today was my first day of work for the semester. clearly, i decided to be super prepared and responsible and went out drinking instead of planning lessons. apparently i had... a lot, because at the end of the night gavin wanted to go home but had planned on splitting a cab with evan. so when evan and i decided we wanted to keep drinking we compromised by going to bao'an and drinking there... while gavin slept. so we drank at the little store by the gate to gavin's school til it closed, and then apparently moved to a restaurant? i don't remember that part at all. we were also supposed to book our flights home by yesterday and evan and i had both forgotten so when we got back to gavin's evan decided to book flights back. i was so drunk i couldn't tell evan what my email address was, or even what service i used. basically, i'm a classy bitch. anyways, i woke up this morning and wanted to DIE. it's 11:30 and i'm still feeling sort of hungover. it was a 2 hour journey on public transport home, which was a joy. then i didn't even have time to nap before going to school. so i went in what i had worn out last night. yep, that's me. dedicated roll model for the youth. i got a textbook to teach from for my junior 1!! woo! that's two lessons out of three that i no longer have to come up with a topic for! junior 2s going to be the same as last semester. i had them today, and they were remarkably well behaved, except for the two students who actually tried to make me believe they forgot what they had done over break. i also had a kid correctly use "shit" as an expletive in a sentence, as in "it was such shit" referring to the homework he did over break. this same kid later used "plump" correctly. unfortunately it was to describe me since i've come back from america. the set up of the whole thing was also funny. he goes 'ms marie, what did you do over break' and after i answered he said 'i think that maybe you are more plump now.' completely earnest. when i laughed and said "yeah, i ate a lot of delicious western food." he just nodded like i cleared up a really confusing situation. whatever. anyways, i'm hoping this semester goes better teaching wise, seems to be off to a good start, but that's what i thought when they first gave me this class last semester.... annnnyyyways, i feel like death and nothing else interesting has happened in my life since i posted like yesterday. you're welcome jennie :)
