thank god.

i know my post yesterday was sort of negative and whatever, so i thought i would let everyone know that things seem to be looking up. we went out last night in a big group, but mostly stood around drinking beer and talking. i was quite relieved to find out that the people in the group i was with at least are all thinking pretty much the same thing. quite a bit of time was spent making fun of the meeting they had with us and talking about how fucking ridiculous that "this is what it's like to be black" comment was. it was refreshing to know that i was among intelligent people and not everyone is freaking ridiculous. it was also really, really good to get out. we spent like an hour just chatting in the hotel before moving to bar street (think 6th street, china style) where we proceeded to buy cheap beer in a 7eleven and then stand on the street loitering about. it was actually pretty fun though, and made me realize that there are people here who are funny and potentially ridiculous. i was starting to go through withdrawal from ridiculous fucking conversation. i even found a couple of arrested development fans. we then actually went in a club, and it really made me realize "hey, i'm in china" there was fire juggling and chinese people copying my terrible dance moves and being drug up on a stage to dance and lots of fruit plates everywhere. the guy who was juggling the bottles that were lit on fire even humped the flaming bottle a few times. it really warmed my heart. anyways, just wanted everyone to know that things are looking up. hope everyone has a good weekend. i'll be studying for my chinese test on saturday and certification on tuesday. i think (hope...) i get a day off sometime this week, so hopefully something actually interesting will happen within the week.
