ok, so friday. we had chinese class in town, so pretty much everyone just stayed in town. no reason to waste a free trip to the city. anyways, chinese gets out at 4:30, so by the time we decided where to eat and ate and chatted for a while, it was still only like 6:30. so we went to a pretty chill bar to just hang out until it was time to actually go out. but clearly, hanging out involved beer (and hookah). and more beer. and then maybe some more beer? anyways, at some point we decide to move to another bar. and when we get there i realize i'm pretty drunk... and it's not even 11 pm. regardless, i think i behaved myself pretty well. although, i do think i went off on a texas rant. i recall yelling at my friend harry about all the great sayings/quotes that we have about texas. luckily, he is very agreeable so i didn't end up actually yelling (which i totally would have if he hadn't been like "oh yes, that's a great saying" or whatever). yay! no belligerent tricia friday night!
anyways, harry and mike ended up crashing at my place friday night (see delightful pictures of how much fun that was on facebook haha), so they hung out all saturday. for some reason i woke up freakishly early (like, 8:15 am), so luckily the day was pretty chill cause i was all kinds of tired. i did get a number of interesting drunk dials that day. i'm pretty sure my guests were quite amused. and they probably think i'm crazy now as well. and since one of said drunk dials was basically alyse yelling about seeing tom and me yelling "YOU SHUT THE FUCK UP!" i kept getting questions about who tom was... but that's a story for another day.
anyways, that night was a girl in the program's birthday. so a bunch of people went out to nanshan (the complete opposite side of the city from me) to this japanese hibachi/sushi place that had an all you can eat/drink anything on the menu from 5:30-10:30 for 150 kuai (about 20ish usd) deal. all you can drink included wine. i think most of you have seen me with a few too many glasses of wine. now imagine that in public. with people i don't know that well. in china. yeahhhhh. anyways, after dinner (where i proceeded to harass multiple people, i think?) i thought we were getting a bus back to futian (the middle of the city) so that we could get a cab back to yantian (where we live) for a decent price at the end of the night. anyways, we ended up going to this place called d bar. this is what i remember: playing dice with random chinese men so they would give me drinks and i wouldn't have to buy any, talking to some guys who were not from china (but i can't for the life of me remember where they were from at all), dancing in a large group (probably in a very embarrassing fashion, as i don't remember), talking on the patio, and getting lost looking for the restroom. i also remember walking to someone's apartment.
the next morning, i wake up on a couch. kate, who i remember walking home with, is on the floor next to fred, who i don't remember even being at the club (although i do remember walking to the club with him?). we are in scott and lucie's apartment, who i vaguely remember walking home with, but not seeing them at all previously in the night (at dinner or the club). i have a pretty vicious looking scrape on my right knee (directly next to the scrape on my right knee i got while blacked out this summer, above the gash on my right leg from the river adventure gone awry...yeah). anyways, i ask "where are we?" and they tell me nanshan. i said 'i thought we were going to futian?' and everyone just laughed at me. i'm pretty sure i did many, MANY embarrassing things that night, but no one has the heart to tell me what an ass i made of myself. ah well. not like that's anything new... on the upside, nanshan is super western, so i was able to have mcdonald's for breakfast! and before you judge, mcdonald's is the shit here, and their breakfast involves cheese and english muffins.
sunday mostly involved recovering from saturday and trying to remember what happened (with little success). although jess bought arrested development!! yay jess!!
monday was nice because i didn't have class til 5th period (2:40 pm) so i got to sleep in! and i only had one! on the downside, the class is really bad. but whatever. i've gotten to where i care very little. today i had a class that was so bad (the same class i wrote about being bad last week. fucking junior 2 class 8...grr.) that i copied where they were sitting down onto a seating chart and gave it to their head teacher. this basically means they will be yelled at until they cry. once they realized what i was doing, they started to worry a little bit more. they also were a little taken aback when i actually wrote 5 (out of 10) in their conduct book (the lowest grade i've seen anyone get in one these is 9.5). i seriously need to devise a better discipline plan for these kids before i punch them. although, i am hoping that a new asshole or two from the head teacher will make them behave a LITTLE better.
and i'll end with a few funny kid stories. 1) i was writing an e-mail about my weekend to diana yesterday, and i had this little girl come up semi-behind me and read over my shoulder. i have NO CLUE what she could actually understand, but all she kept doing was saying "no no no no no no no" over and over. when i would ask her "no what?" she would shake her head, giggle and turn away. 2) today while i was at my desk i had a little girl come talk to me, and at one point she asked me if i was cold. keep in mind, my office is like 80 degrees and i'm wearing pants, an undershirt, and a thick (but sleeveless) shirt. i said "no, not at all" and she goes "oh, your sleeves are very short." luckily she made up for calling me a hussy by looking at my chinese notebook and telling me my handwriting is very beautiful haha. anyways, after these two experiences i'm no longer jealous of all my friends who have kids coming up to talk to them at their desks all the time. 3) but my favorite kid story is that today, while trying to explain the alamo (which i think they understood about 0% of), i said ALAMO loudly and slowly a few times. each time i did this, at LEAST one kid in the class would do the sign of the cross. i was SUPER confused as i turned around and laughed at them, until i heard one say "hallelujah!" i guess they think they sound the same? or that that's what i was saying? i don't know. i just quickly had them stop doing/saying that as i figured chinese public school where there is a "young pioneers" (communist youth league type thing) office is not the place to have my kids yelling "hallelujah!" and doing the sign of the cross.
oh! i also took pictures of some of my little hellions. not the really shitty ones, as i would prefer not to remember them, but my other three classes today. i'll try to post some on facebook soon!
oh yeah, and there's a typhoon hitting tonight/tomorrow. i don't know if you guys have heard about it, because it doesn't sound too bad. but just a heads up. honestly, at this point i'm just hoping class i cancelled tomorrow. i'm also really hoping that this doesn't turn out to bite me in the ass, as i certainly didn't think ike was going to be that big of a deal. also, this one is called typhoon hagupit. i don't want to get fucked by a typhoon i can't pronounce.

teaching sounds fun! I've pretty much decided that when I graduate I'm going to do the same thing you do. Although I think it would be maybe cooler to teach adults (but that's probably hard to get into). COME VISIT
dude, I forgot what I was going to write.
oh yeah, mcdonalds is the shit so don't feel bad about eating it! Today I went and got chicken nuggets but when i asked for honey she just looked at me like I was crazy. Ugh. the mcd's here sucks because I get the same bitch every damn time who sucks at english and her job.
I hope your leg gets better!
